Working in Anderson
Anderson is the county seat of Anderson County and sits on I-85, south-west of Greenville. US 29, US 76 and US 178 all pass through. The 2020 census counted 28,106 people in the city. Around it, the county runs out to the Georgia line and Lake Hartwell, with plenty of rural ground between the towns.
The city calls itself the Electric City. The name comes from its early start on electric power, when William C. Whitner set up a hydroelectric plant on the Rocky River in 1895. The Rocky River still runs through town, and that matters to anyone clearing ground near it.
Most Anderson work for us is lot clearing and land clearing. Some lots are wooded parcels on the edge of town. Others are old fields that grew up. We clear the ground a house needs, mulch the ground that only needs opening up, and do the pad, drive and drainage work that follows.
We are an Asheville company, and Anderson is the far end of our Upstate run. McKinley quotes every job and is on site for the work. Call (828) 540-6856 or use the form.

Lot clearing in Anderson
A building lot is cleared to plan, not to the property line. The house footprint, the drive and the utility routes come down to soil, with stumps and root mat out. The edges can often stay wooded, or be thinned and mulched. We mark what comes out and what stays before the first tree is cut. See land clearing for the full method.
Debris is hauled off or processed on the lot. Which one is right depends on how much there is, how a truck gets in and how you want the lot to look afterward. Either way, the cleared ground is graded so it drains, and the next trade can drive onto it.
Lake Hartwell lots
Lake Hartwell is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake, and a lot of Anderson County lake property backs onto it. On many lake lots the strip between your line and the water is Corps land, not yours. The Corps has pursued owners who cut trees on it. It can permit limited cutting for qualifying adjacent owners, but that permit comes first.
So on a lake lot, find your line before any clearing is priced. Then talk to the Corps' Hartwell Lake office about anything near the shore. We clear and mulch the ground that is yours to work, and stop at the line.
Mulching, pads and drives
Overgrown fields, fence lines and wood lots that only need opening up are mulching jobs. The growth is ground to chip where it stands, with no burn pile and nothing to haul. Read forestry mulching vs land clearing in SC before you decide which you need.
For a new house, clearing leads into the pad, the access drive and the drainage. Ask Anderson County, or the City of Anderson inside city limits, about land disturbance rules before work starts. Our South Carolina site preparation checklist covers the rest.

Do you do lot clearing in Anderson, SC?
Yes. We clear building lots in and around Anderson to the limits your plan needs, with stumps and root mat out under the house and the drive. The cleared ground is graded so it drains.
Can you clear my lot on Lake Hartwell?
We clear the part of the lot that is yours. The shoreline strip is often U.S. Army Corps of Engineers land, and cutting there needs a Corps permit. Find your line and check with the Corps before clearing is priced.
Do you work outside the city, in Anderson County?
Yes. We work rural acreage and lots across Anderson County, including around Pendleton, Williamston, Belton and Powdersville.
Is Anderson too far from Asheville for you?
No. Anderson is part of our Upstate South Carolina run. We plan the trip around the job, and the same crew does the work.
