Mulching is a single-machine operation, which is why it is quicker and cheaper than clearing on the ground it suits. There is no burn permit, no debris pile and no line of dump trucks.
It is the right answer for overgrown ground, fence lines, trail and view cutting, and thinning under mature trees. It is the wrong answer where stumps have to come out for construction.

How fast does it grow back?
Depends on species and season. Mulching removes the top growth and the chip layer suppresses regrowth for a while, but it does not kill root systems the way stump removal does. For ground you want kept open, expect to revisit it.
Can you mulch on a slope?
Yes, and it is often the better option there — the chip layer holds soil that clearing would leave bare and washing.
